The Early Childhood Method

Your room doesn't need another behaviour strategy. It needs a different way of seeing children.

Regulation Rituals™ is the on-demand professional learning program that helps early childhood teams understand why children behave the way they do — and how to design environments, routines, and relationships where every child feels calm, connected, and ready to participate.

Built for whole teams. Designed to be implemented, not just watched.

Does this sound familiar

Your team is working hard.
The missing piece isn't effort.

"The room just feels chaotic."
"Transitions fall apart every single day."
"We have children who can't sit at group time — and we don't know why."
"We're dealing with big emotions constantly and we're exhausted."
"We bring in support, but nothing seems to stick."

If you're nodding, you're not alone — and it's not because your team isn't trying hard enough. Most educators are working incredibly hard. The missing piece isn't effort. It's understanding.

When we understand what children's behaviour is actually communicating — about their nervous system, their sensory experience, their need for connection — everything starts to shift.

A different lens

What if the behaviour isn't the problem?

DefianceAttention-seekingA behaviour problem

Every time a child melts down at transitions, can't settle at group time, or seems to be constantly on the move — their body is communicating something. A nervous system that needs support.

Regulation Rituals™ gives your whole team the knowledge and practical tools to understand what children are communicating — and to design the environments, routines, and relational moments that help every child participate, connect, and belong.

Introducing

Regulation Rituals™
The Early Childhood Method

A whole-team professional learning program that turns understanding into practice.

Regulation Rituals™ is an on-demand course designed to be worked through by your entire service — together. It's not about adding more to your plate. It's about making small, intentional changes to routines and environments you're already running every day.

How it works

This is not a course you watch and forget.

Here's how Regulation Rituals™ is delivered — for your whole team:

📱

On-demand learning — on your terms

Eight modules available through a mobile app. Engage during PD sessions, staff meetings, or scheduled learning blocks — at a pace that suits your service.

📓

Workbooks + reflection guides for every module

Tools designed to turn individual learning into team conversation. Use them in staff meetings to embed a shared language across your whole service.

💬

Online community of educators

Connect with educators across Australia implementing Regulation Rituals™. Share ideas, ask questions, and see real implementation in rooms like yours.

⭐ Key Differentiator

Live Learning Circles — where learning becomes real

This is where Regulation Rituals™ becomes genuinely different from any other course you've tried.

Each module is supported by a live, facilitated Learning Circle — a 60–75 minute session led by Sally Galloway (Occupational Therapist).

These aren't webinars. They're working sessions — where the content connects directly to the children your team works with every day.

In each session your team will:

  • Reflect on what they've noticed in their rooms since the last module
  • Bring real children and real scenarios to the conversation
  • Ask questions and get guidance specific to your environment
  • Build reflective practice that stays long after the course ends
Why directors choose this

The difference between PD that sits in a folder — and one that changes how a service operates.

"We've done PD before. Educators come back inspired, and then nothing changes because the rest of the team isn't on the same page."

Regulation Rituals™ is designed to solve that exact problem. When your whole team learns together, you build a shared language — a common way of understanding and talking about children's behaviour that crosses every room, every age group, and every shift.

Instead of one educator trying to implement something in isolation, the whole service shifts together.

One team licence. Every educator included. No one left out.

The curriculum

Eight modules. A complete framework.

Short, manageable video segments — with a dedicated workbook for every module to embed learning across your whole team.

01Exploring Regulation Rituals™+
What are Regulation Rituals™ and why do predictable, relational routines matter? This foundational module sets the framework your whole team will build on together.
02Nurturing Brains in Early Childhood+
How the brain and body develop in the earliest years — and how this shapes children's capacity to regulate, connect, and learn.
03Relationships as the Heart of Regulation+
Why secure relationships are the foundation of regulation, and how educators become powerful attachment figures in children's lives.
04Making Sense of the World Through Sensory Processing+
How children experience the world through their sensory systems — and why sensory processing is often at the heart of the behaviour that puzzles us most.
05Understanding Arousal and the Nervous System+
Understanding arousal states, energy in the body, and how adults support children through co-regulation — the most important thing any educator can offer.
06Embedding Regulation Rituals into Everyday Routines+
How to embed regulation into arrivals, transitions, mealtimes, group time, and departures — without adding anything extra to your day.
07Using Regulation Rituals in Intentional Teaching Experiences+
Designing play environments, group experiences, and learning provocations that support participation for every child — including those with complex needs.
08Reflection and Self-Care for Educators+
Supporting educators to sustain relational practice over time — and to care for their own nervous systems in the complexity of early childhood work.

Module 4

Meet the eight sensory systems

Children make sense of the world through eight sensory systems — not just the five we learned in school. Module 4 explores each one and what it means for children in your care.

Built from 16 years inside early childhood environments — not from the outside looking in.

Sally Galloway is an Occupational Therapist who has spent her career working at the intersection of child development, sensory processing, and early education.

Her commitment to children began long before Regulation Rituals™. Early in her career, Sally founded The Treehouse Initiative — a not-for-profit breaking down barriers so children of all abilities could access sporting and community opportunities. It has since grown into STEPS Autism Treehouse.

As National Manager of Occupational Therapy at Goodstart Early Learning, she supported teams across Australia. In the three years since, she has delivered 90+ professional development workshops and worked in partnership with more than 100 early childhood services nationally.

We know what you might be thinking

Your questions, answered.

"We're already overwhelmed. We don't have time for another course."
+
We hear this most. Regulation Rituals™ was designed for busy teams — short learning segments, flexible app access, and workbooks that slot into staff meetings you're already having. The Learning Circles replace external PD sessions you'd otherwise book and pay for separately.
"Is this just another behaviour management program?"
+
No. This is the opposite. Regulation Rituals™ moves away from behaviour management entirely, towards understanding behaviour as communication. If your team is tired of strategies that don't work, this is why — and this is the shift that changes it.
"Will this work in our environment? We support a lot of neurodivergent children."
+
Regulation Rituals™ was built with exactly these children in mind. Sally's background is in occupational therapy and early intervention — including work with children with autism, sensory processing differences, and developmental trauma. The framework is inclusive by design.
"Will my team actually implement it?"
+
The Learning Circles are the answer to this. Implementation doesn't happen from watching videos alone — it happens through guided reflection, real conversation, and support from someone who understands your environment. That's exactly what the circles are built for.
